The Littoral Liquid

The next creature was inspired in a rather weird way. I was contemplating how I could potentially incorporate the environment into a creature. One of the ways I was thinking could be the rain. This idea came to me when I was visiting family during the holidays (in between lockdowns). I was in my father's office when there was heavy rainfall and heard it going down the tube rather heavily. Sadly I didn't think to get a recording of this, but I found that once I had started listening to it, it reminded me of an idea I had in one of my projects last year:

"What if you heard something you usually thought to be nothing to worry about, but then it turns out to be a thing of nightmares?"

With this idea, it leads me to think about the rain and how that could potentially try and suffocate the Player. Thus, I started to sketch ideas:

I also had the idea to make it an oil spill like creature, but then it would be too hard to see as oil spills tend to be black with only slight irridecance. Because of this, I decided to go for a more bubble approach but also like it was dripping constantly. In then end I ended up going for the middle model as it looked a little ghastly and thus I thought it was the best idea to choose that one.

The Littoral Liquid is dangerous. It travels fast and with a sense of twisted grace. The best way to know that it is close, is by the sound of rainfall that will intensify the closer it comes towards you. If you run, you may be able to get away, but if it does catch you, it will encase your head in it's body and drown you. You will suffocate. t's bubble body is weak, so the chance to pop it will then keep it at bay for a while.

The pallet is above and this is the overall turnaround sheet of the Littoral Liquid. I am happy with it in the sense of design, but I do think this is the weakest of all of my creatures. This could probably be one of the beginning ones as you can escape it. This will be the only mob that you will be able to 'kill' in the sense that you can pop it to get away from it for a while.

This is also the type of mob that could be left out if needed as trying to animate water is already a struggle in itself.

Even though the Littoral Liquid could be left out of the overall game, I included a small gif to show how the bubbles would flow. They bob and I feel like that would be best to show how it would move. The sound ques would be best for this at bubbles are otherwise silent.
