Presentation Four

Before I talk about the presentation, I quickly wanted to add in a segment where I talk about the name behind our game, Solum. As we were getting closer to presenting the game, we realized we needed a name that would best encapsulate the core theme of our game even if it was going to be a working title. This we had this exchange on Messenger:

We liked the ideas that we were coming up with as we wanted to stick to words that weren't completely stooped in negative connotations (like Isolation or Reclusive) and then I suggested Solum as it is the Latin word for lonely and I personally like Latin and how the words seem to sound more graceful/ impactful. Regardless, we then decided to do a poll on Slack, going with what our peers agreed was the best:

And thus, our game is called Solum.

In second, we have Hello World by Louie Zong. I am also putting in the third song as they both share the same context and that is Therefore You & Me by Eve ft. 38Ban. We added both of these examples because it both has a chiptune element to them as well as has the auto-tune voices that could play into the idea that we wanted of Abel being a robot. We really liked the idea of this possibly being used for an open/ ending theme- much like the idea of Omori having the end-scene song of My Time by Bo-En and how the song was used in the trailer too and that set the overall scene for the game. 

We really liked this idea, but Marvin and I agreed that when talking to the Music students, this would only be a possible song along with foley as we wanted to focus on having music in the four main areas of our game.

Feedback when you are the last group to present isn't always easy. We mostly got comments about the gifs or just memes in general. At this point, it is hard to give feedback on what we did as it was aimed more towards the music students that were in attendance. 

At this point, going into the next phase/ semester 2, I have some set goals both related to some of the feedback on here and what I want to do myself. 

     1) Get feedback for the Character Designs from peers.

     2) Figure out how to translate it into a particular pixel-art style (look into programs)

     3) Figuring out narrative fully (will there be in-text talking or now)

     4) Getting a composer to make music for our game (and possibly foley too)
