Exploration of  Topics

In our first week, we had to start getting ideas for the kind of topics that we may want to delve into. With these topics we were supposed to choose four and then explore them further. To help us with a starting point. Our teacher Adam gave us the following prompts:

What makes you angry?
What makes you laugh?

What makes you excited?

What makes you cry?

What stimulates you intellectually?

What interests you?

With these prompts, we were able to put them on paper and start mind-mapping them in pairs. I worked with Flora and this is what we came up with:

Once we had gotten these ideas down, we started to think about things we might want to take from here as well as possible other ideas that we could think of that may be of interest to talk about in a presentation in two weeks time.

Doing this actually really helped me with my initial ideas. I was able to really to think of many different things that made me happy to making me sad. It really put things in perspective for me in a way that made it easier to pick out specific topics that I could then put into a list. I originally didn't understand why we were doing this kind of mind mapping, but I very quickly came to understand that it also showed us a way of looking at things we liked in a different angle. It made me realise what I was really interested in and lead me to making the google docs list you see below.

It took me a while to think of what I could take forwards. While the mindmapping helped me think about things I was passionate about (be it wether it was a positive or negative passion), I realised that I didn't want to focus on a game that talks about environmental issues. As much as it is an issue that needs to be addressed, I knew that I wanted to make a game with real purpose/ to talk about something that could really make an effective game while being somewhat relatable to others. This lead me to choose these ideas as my four main topics for my Presentation:

- Menhera

- Traumacore

- Hades & Persephone

- Psychological Horror

Now that I have my four main ideas, it is time to go onto the research for my presentation that will talk about these four topics for two minuets each.
